Late night on Friday - home at midnight or after and at the zoo by 6:30 am Saturday. Players volunteered during the Throo the Zoo run. They had a little time between setting up tables, unloading cars and opening a few hundred cases of water to create a little artwork using the Powerade bottles. Notice anything?
The water stop set up midway through the race kept another group busy. Over 2000 runners and lots of water bottles to open before they came through -
Let's get physical - Henry clay had some big numbers - unfortunately for them - and fortunately for us - all in the penalty/personal foul department. Final score was 13-1 Manual.
Manual came out ready to play. Despite being man down most of the first quarter - at the end of twelve minutes, the score was 1-0. Defense continued their outstanding play locking down the Trinity offense allowing only 9 goals for the game. JV continued the hard play in the second game -
A quick start lead to a 4-0 run and a 6-1 lead at halftime. A strong defensive effort in the second half made sure the Rams secure the win 6-2. Varsity is 2-0 in its quest for the Jefferson Cup.
A quick 6-0 start in the first quarter led Manual to a strong victory over Covington Catholic. Final score is 16-1. The JV team finishes their game 4-4.
Tates Creek After a slow start in the morning, the team heated up as the sun started rising overhead… and won 13-6 to go 2-0 and gain position for the D2 tournament. The JV team won 8-6.
Homestead Not knowing what to expect from this team, Manual came out hitting and clicking, Nick Uhlenhuth was a ground ball machine. Sam Salzman won all of his faceoffs making sure that Manual would not fall short on possessions rolling on to a 12-2 win.
Congratulations to both the JV and V teams for their victories on Thursday night. The JV team took their season opener 6-3. The Varsity team dominated the second half of their game. Crisp ball movement and team communication led to their decisive victory over Division I opponent Eastern High School. Final score was 11 - 4. Varsity is 1-0 in its quest for the Jefferson Cup. Thanks to Mrs. Johnson again for sharing her albums -
